Collaborative Divorce is an alternative to traditional divorce aimed at reducing conflict and stress between the parties.
To begin, each spouse would retain an attorney who is trained in the collaborative process. Professionals in areas such as finance or mental health would then be selected and approved by both parties. This allows for a minimalization of conflict during divorce, especially for families with children.
Cost and timeframe are often huge motivators when it comes to decisions during a divorce. The collaborative process can reduce the amount for each due to decreased litigation and a mutual agreement on cost disbursement without input from the Courts. Due to the process being based on the schedule of the parties and not that of the Courts, a collaborative divorce can oftentimes render an agreement much sooner and be more effective.
