Licensed as a Florida attorney since April 2005, my main focus has been on Family Law. I primarily practice in Clay and Duval County. I occasionally handle matters in St. Johns, Nassau, Putnam, Alachua, Baker, and Bradford counties.
I have had my own firm for over ten (10) years which is client and family centered. My aim is to use my training and experience to give my clients a variety of options and to assist them in obtaining their goals. I understand that the decisions made, whether by agreement or by the Court, have a lasting effect on the individuals involved and especially any children involved. My focus is trying to preserve relationships when possible and to make any transition (such as from one household to two) as painless as they can be. I strongly believe that these transitions can be accomplished more smoothly by using alternative approaches, such as collaborative law and mediation.
I have completed additional training and am involved in several organizations to better serve my clients. This includes continuing training in Family Law and Collaborative Law (including local training, advanced trainings, annual conferences and an international conference). I am a member of the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, Family Law Inns of Court, Collaborative Family Law Group of Northeast Florida (including past vice-president), and a member of the Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals. I am also a past member of the Florida Bar Marital and Family Law Rules Committee.
I am local to the area and attended the University of North Florida, receiving my B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy in December 2000. I attended Florida State University College of Law and graduated with my law degree with high honors in December 2004. While in law school, I was a law clerk for the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulations, a legal intern for the Florida Commission on Human Relations, and an intern for the Florida State University College of Law, Child’s Advocacy Center. For the year between my B.A. and law school, I worked for the Department of Children and Families.
